Wow! I can not believe that the school year is nearly over. We have had such a great year in Room 1 and I am sad to see some of the children move into Room 2 next year, and excited to continue learning with many of the children next year. The bottom of reports (which come home on Thursday) will say which class your child is in next year. |

A Dinosaur Hid our Hats!!! (Shared Reading)
For shared reading today we read the story, 'The Lost Hat'. After reading the story together we realised our hat box was missing!! There was a dinosaur and BIG envelope in our classroom with messages in it for us. The children created a map of the places they thought we should search (the classroom, lost property, playground, sandpit and field) and we went off on a search! Once we FINALLY found our hats there was another envelope for us to open - it had cards with letter of the alphabet made in sand. We all practiced making these letters and sounds in the sand.

This week is World Nursery Rhyme week! For those children who are in Room 1 for reading we will be doing shared reading around a Nursery Rhyme each day. At the beginning of the week the children received a book with all of the week’s poems in it. Please ensure this comes back to school each day and then the children can keep it at the end of the week.
Below are the audio (song versions) of the rhymes and some pictures we did as a class. I aim to add to this post as the week goes on.

Monday: Baa baa black sheep
Monday we spent lots of time talking around rhymes and worked out words we knew that rhymed with other words. Then we read through the rhyme for the day looking for words that rhymed and unpacking the meaning of some of the unfamiliar words.
Tuesday: Down in the Jungle
Tuesday we learnt the song and actions to go with our rhyme, helped Beebot make his way sequencing the animals in order and made a class book to add to our bookshelf with colourful pictures and the whole rhyme. We also used our jungle themed nursery rhyme to inspire out writing. The children each choose one of the animals and wrote a sentence or story about something they do/did in the jungle. Come in and have a look on our writing wall! The children are also bringing home puppets/paper toys they have started to make of their choosen animal. |
Wednesday: Incy Wincy Spider
Thursday: Row Row Row Your Boat
Friday: Two Little Dickie Birds
Room 1 was kindly donated a HUGE amount of left over Disney Tiles for in class use. Thank you so much, also to those of you who have donated from home!
Athletics last week was a lot of fun mixed in with some not so great weather and a quick rush in the rain!!
Thank you to all parents who helped transport extra children back to school.
Well done Meridah (1st in Long Sprints) and Eden (3rd in Discus)
Welcome back for the final term of the year! We have had an exciting first few days back. It has been exciting to hear about what you were up to over the last few weeks as well as settle back into learning at school.
Some of you may have also seen (or heard about) the new addition to our classroom. Over the next 28 days we will be hatching eggs! So far we have learnt about the many different animals that lay eggs and talked about the different eggs we have in our room. I look forward to the continued conversations and interest in another 'change' learning opportunity.
Today for art we read a story called animal colours, which is a silly story about mixing two different colours together to make a made up animals. So today we decided we would give it a go making up our own creative animals with new names!
