Well done to all the Y0-2 students who shared their poems today! They were all so brave to stand up in front of two classes, parents, grandparents and siblings and we all loved listening!!
Mrs B came into Room 1 this morning to show us a cool science experiment. She showed us some dry ice (which was soo cold you can’t touch it without gloves on), we learnt that it is ice but made out of gas not water. Then she added some hot water...see what happened!
Wow there have been so many things happening so far this term! We have had a great first 3 weeks!

This term we have had some new and different activities during developmental time. This week we made finger puppets of Putangitangi (paradise ducks - from one of our stories from the last week) and decorated star cookies to remember one of the promises God made to Abraham - that he would have a big, big family, more than the number of stars in the sky.
We have also had some activities focusing on using our fine motor skill, problem solving and teamwork.
We love developmental time!!
This term we are starting to look through a timeline of some of the stories through the bible (and linking the ideas to what we've learnt already this year.) We are learning about people in God's unfolding plan. We looked back to learning about Adam and Eve earlier this year and how God's world was perfect, but Adam and Eve made a bad choice. God still loved them (and us!) and wanted to make peace so sent Jesus.
This week we learnt about promises God made to Abraham and will see how these promises are important in the big story!
Next week we are sharing our poems on Tuesday in front of the Y0-2s and parents. Each day we have been practicing our poems in front of room 1. We are working on having a loud voice, actions, looking at the audience and talking with a good speed. Keep practicing over the weekend!!
Maths, months, numbers...
Many of you will have seen our Lavalava's stuck to the inside (and outside) of the classroom. Mrs Coe brought in her Lavalava from Tonga and all of the class got a chance to wear it, we read the story and even made our own class book. On the back of our pictures, we drew a picture of ourselves and designed our very own Lavalava.
Damon - Great work for working hard to challenge yourself in class and meet goals!
Peter - Welcome to ACS, we are excited to have you join Room 1!
Lochie - Good work for passing Stage 2/3 of Mad Maths Minute!
For those who missed it / anyone who would like to watch again!
This afternoon we went to Princes Court Rest Home and sung 4 songs for the residents. They sung You are my Sunshine back to us. We then took our writing and pictures from this week to share with the residents. The children showed some great confidence in talking with the residence and trying something new!
