Kia Ora Families! In this week leading up to Easter I thought I would post Easter-themed activities you may be interested in giving a go at home this week. Enjoy!

An Easter Story Wreath
Picture
Download, print and colour the printables in the PDF then sequence the story, sticking it to a circle piece of paper or card.
Cross Mosaic
Picture
Draw the outline of a cross on a piece of paper. Use ripped up paper, card, wrapping paper, magazines etc to create a mosic, sticking different colours on the inside of the cross to the background for the best effect.
Painters Tape Cross
Picture
Create a cross in the middle of a page using painters tape (you could also use masking tape or washi/paper tape). Children can then paint, dye or colour the rest of the page. Once it has dried remove the tape.
Nature Resurrection Scene
Picture
Follow the instructions in the artical below or find what you can in your garden to make your own Easter Garden.

Roll away the Stone
Picture
Create a cut and paste tomb using different coloured pieces of paper, or colouring the paper the colours you want. If you have one, use a split pin to attach the stone in front of the tomb so that you can roll it away.
Easter Story Sequencing and Matching
Print and cut out the sequencing cards to retell the Easter story.
Cut out the letters, mix up and match to create the sentence on the final page.

Today for art we read a story called animal colours, which is a silly story about mixing two different colours together to make a made up animals. So today we decided we would give it a go making up our own creative animals with new names!

For art this week we read the story 'Draw me a star' by Eric Carle. We learnt how to draw stars and then Mrs Coe traced around our hands and used line drawings to fill in and decorate their hands, as we reach for the stars!

Come in to check out our 'dotty' art.
We read a story called "When the wind changed" by Ruth Park. The boy, Josh, was REALLY good at pulling faces.
We decided to pull some funny and scary faces too - I took photos then traced the outline of our faces onto dotty paper. The children then coloured inside the dots, trying their very best to use the right colours. For their backgrounds and t-shirts they got a bit more creative using different colours and patterns.

We have started off art for the year using crayons and dye. After tracing around the children they added in detail, their face, hair, clothing etc with crayon then finished off with dye. As new children enter the classroom throughout the year, this will be their first art piece! Watch our walls as the class grows!
