Due to the short week I have given 3 days of Maths activities.
*use your washing or a selection of clothing or even pairs of socks as a prop for this.
*sort clothing based on differences/similarities - length, size, thickness etc. Talk about the things that are the same and the things that are different.
*odd one out
-using objects around the house make groups of objects with one item that doesn't fit in the group - get your child to sort them. Or get a large collection of different things around the house, ask your child to sort them into groups, get them to tell you what is the same about each group, it may be a colour, a shape, what it is made out of etc
*you could also choose to do some follow up worksheets based around the odd one out.
2. Teen Numbers
*talk about teen numbers, what numbers are 'teen numbers' practice writing them.
*make a teen number book by either downloading and printing the worksheets below, or using these as inspiration and creating your own on paper. (This may take some time!)
*take away 1 song
*using small toys or blocks use 'stories' to tell taking away/subtracting sentences. E.g. I made a tower with 7 blocks, but 3 blocks fell off, how many do I have left? The children can then use the blocks or Numicon shapes to solve the problem. Then talk about the number sentence that represents (7-3=4), repeat this with lots of different questions.
*continue to practice subtracting sentences, getting your child to also write down the numbers. You could use the worksheets below, or make up your own questions.

Get your child to choose their favourite story, take a photo and send it to Mrs Coe.
*Watch the clip - Amazing Animals, Gorillas - write something amazing about a Gorilla

*Look at a picture of a goose, write something about what it looks like.
You could also base writing off something you have read, done or seen that day or during the week. Your child could also write about what they are going to share for news.
*find something at home beginning with the letter Gg. Send a short video sharing your news (by Thursday) with the class and Mrs Coe will post them on the blog on Friday.
