This week's certificates:Happy first day Noah and Daniel! We hope you enjoyed being in Room 1 for your first day as 5 year olds!!Today we filled the bucket! As a reward the class got to go outside and play a game of their choise straight after lunch. We had lots of fun playing duck, duck, goose in the shade on the grass.
Tahi (our one-eyed tadpole) is fast becoming a frog!! Our froglets tail is smaller every time I look at it!On Monday we were talking about tadpoles and the stages that they grow in. We still have some questions to answer and find out but soon we will also start learning about frogs! In the weekend I went to 'Sparks' in Christchurch with my extended family and told Room 1 about it on Monday. Today we watched a video of one of the songs the Orchestra played as well as some of the end fireworks display. This became a prompt for our writing. The goal was to write something about both the music and the fireworks. Here is the video as well as the shots of their work!
We used the large foam Numicon shapes to add together different groups of animals. Putting the two shapes together and finding the shape that fit on top to find the total. You can practice these at home too with any items found around the house, eg buttons or coins, putting them into the shape of a Numicon shape to discover the total. Check by counting.Today we were talking about the size and height of objects. We put different objects from around the room into order from smallest to biggest, shortest to smallest and using different words for compairing them. We also watched and talked about the story Goldilocks and Three Bears to introduce us to these ideas. |
