Last week for the term!
As we head into another exciting week of rehearsals, the countdown to our Narnia production is well and truly on! This week, we will continue polishing our songs, dances, and scenes as everything starts coming together on stage.
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported the production so far—whether by helping with props and costumes, assisting at rehearsals, or encouraging our cast and crew behind the scenes. Your generosity and enthusiasm have made a tremendous difference and have helped create a truly special experience for our students.
Next week:
See the updated rehearsal schedule here: Rehearsal Schedule
Please note a slight change to the rehearsal schedule for Monday 29th June (6:00–8:00 pm).
Our dance choreographers will be joining us to revise all of the production dances. Instead of singing separately with Mrs Wigram, students will be practising both their singing and dancing together with live piano accompaniment.
As a result, not all cast members will be required for the full rehearsal, so please check the updated schedule carefully to see when your child is needed. Thank you.
Things to note:
HOLIDAY REHEARSALS:
To continue building on all the work done this term, we will be holding two important holiday rehearsals:
Wednesday 15th July 10:00 - 3:00pm
Thursday 16th July 10:00 - 3:00pm
At school
These rehearsals are a valuable opportunity to cement the learning that has taken place so far and to work through the production as a whole. They will also give us the time needed to focus on some of our larger scenes and continue refining performances as we move closer to show time. Detailed information will be sent by the end of the term outlining everything you need to know.
The enthusiasm, dedication, and teamwork shown by our students have been fantastic, and we are excited to see the production continuing to take shape. Thank you again for your ongoing support and flexibility. These holiday rehearsals will make a significant difference as we work towards delivering a memorable performance for our school community.
We welcome any parent volunteers who are available to help with finalising the props, costumes and support where needed. If you are able to assist, please contact Mrs Fox directly at d.fox@acs.school.nz
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Please kindly let us know if your child has any prior commitments and are not able to attend either of those rehearsal days.
PROPS NEEDED:
As we continue preparing for our production, we are looking to borrow artificial Christmas trees to help create the magical winter setting on stage. We would love to borrow a variety of sizes, ranging from 5 feet to 9 feet tall.
Any trees loaned to us will be carefully looked after and clearly labelled so they can be returned to their owners after the production.
To create the snowy effect, we may need to use fake snow spray on some of the trees. If you are happy for your tree to have this applied, please let me know. If you would prefer not to use snow spray, we would still be very grateful to borrow your tree and will use an alternative method to achieve the same effect.
If you are able to help, please contact me with the size of the tree you have available.
We are also needing to borrow a pouf / small ottoman - preferable green/brown/red/golden colours. If you have something you think might be suitable, please be in touch. Thank you.
How You Can Support at Home:
Please continue supporting your child with learning their lines at home. All the backing tracks have been uploaded to Google Classroom, so students have access to all the songs and dances they are learning. Students will be script free from the holidays on to ensure that we get the best practise out of our rehearsal times. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Kia ora Parents and Caregivers,
A friendly reminder that our Special Character Review Parent Survey is currently open, and we would greatly value your feedback.
As a Christian school, it is important that we regularly reflect on how well we are living out our special character and supporting our students and families. Your insights will help us celebrate what is working well and identify opportunities for growth.
Complete the Parent Survey here: Ashburton Christian School - Special Character Survey
The survey only takes a few minutes to complete and will remain open until Monday 29 June.
Thank you for partnering with us and for taking the time to share your thoughts. Your voice is an important part of our review process.
