Production Cast - Week 7 Update
2 Jun 2026

Last Week’s Focus:

Last week we continued to work on sword play routines and introduced a dance for the song 'Hot and Bothered' for all the cruelies to learn.  A link to this dance is on Google Classroom for your child to rehearse at home for those in that scene.  We are finding that we just don't have enough time to get through all the routines and dances so as of Week 8, our rehearsal time on Thursday afternoons will be from 3:30 - 6:00 pm.

This week:

See the highlighted rehearsal schedule here:  Rehearsal Schedule

We are aware that several students are away in Christchurch at a Leaders Conference on Thursday, but we will continue with our rehearsal practice with those who are able to attend.

Things to note:

WORKING BEE:

·         We have several large stage sets still to build, along with many props that need painting. If you can help, please consider joining us on Monday evenings - starting next week, from 6:00–8:00pm (during rehearsal time), in Room 21 with Mr. Butler.

Any support would be greatly appreciated.

·         Please let us know if your child cannot attend. We don’t always know if they are away or sick, so it helps us to keep records of attendance.

·         Remember, Room 22 is available for students who would like to warm up any food or top up their water bottles after school on Thursday while they wait for rehearsals to start.

COSTUME INFORMATION:

Costume outlines and descriptions have been given to your child and are posted on Google Classroom for those who have misplaced theirs. These are designed to show the inspiration and ideas for your child's character’s overall look and style. Their final costume will be created by combining a variety of different clothing pieces, accessories, and costume items rather than being one complete outfit.

Any characters wearing masks will be using the paper masks shown on the character sheet. These masks will be worn more like helmets or headpieces, meaning their face will still remain visible for acting and expression. If you are interested and able to help with making these masks, please get in touch. They come pre-cut with instructions on how to fold them. A glue gun is essential for this project.

Many costumes will require specific underlayers such as plain leggings, tights, long-sleeved tops, or t-shirts. It would be extremely helpful if students could source these basic items themselves where possible.

Shoes are also important for creating the correct look and ensuring safe movement on stage. Unless otherwise specified, black jazz shoes or plain flat black trainers are preferred.

If you have anything at home — or are able to borrow items from family or friends — that could help with your child's costume, please come and discuss it with us before bringing it in. We would love to see any ideas or pieces that may work for your character.

We will also be hiring several costume items and specialty pieces. Information about costume fitting dates and times at the costume hire company will be shared soon so students can attend and try on possible costume options for their role. If you are able to sew, craft, alter clothing, lend costume items, or assist with costume making in any way, we would greatly value your support.

If you would like to discuss your child's costume, please make a time to come a see Mrs Fox or send her an email.

How You Can Support at Home:

Please continue supporting your child with learning their lines at home.  All the backing tracks have been uploaded to Google Classroom, so students have access to all the songs they are learning. Mrs Wigram is available at interval times if any students needs help to learn their singing parts.  Please encourage them to make the most of this opportunity.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Ngā mihi,

Delia Fox & Lynn Wigram
