Why Christian Education?

Here are a some important considerations when choosing a school for your child:

1. A parent’s calling – God instructed parents to train children in his ways (Proverbs 22:6) and to understand the world as it truly is. The Christian School believes in and supports parents in this calling.
2. Curriculum – All the skills and knowledge taught are understood in terms of God as the powerful, loving and just creator and designer. We can explore, discover and wonder at his design in each curriculum area.
3. Vision – A Christian school considers the development of gifts and talents as a means to serving a great God and making an impact on our society both now and in the future.
4. Relationships – Christian teachers in a Christian school can call on God’s wisdom openly to address the heart issues children face and model Christ to the young people, preparing them for the challenges of life.

There are also common misconceptions about Christian Schooling to challenge:

1. Cotton Wool – Do Christian schools wrap children up too softly? No. It is the intent of the school to prepare children to face the world armed with the skills, knowledge, wisdom and understanding to make a difference for God; like training soldiers for battle (Ephesians 6:13-18).
2. Bible Bashing – Do Christian schools deliver one long Bible lesson? No. We deliver a vibrant, full curriculum with all the subjects of a state school but with the heart beat of God and his Word. The Bible is used in authentic occasions with children and to guide the philosophies and approaches of teachers.
3. It’s just like a state school except with Christian teachers – Is the only difference to a state school the faith of the teachers? No it is the power of the gospel working through the teachers. Consider the difference faith in God makes to the life of a person. Now consider how that difference will change the way they view knowledge, skills, wisdom, children and all of life.

Proverbs 22:6 - “Train a child in the way he should go and, when he is old, he will not turn from it”

Deuteronomy 6:4-9 - Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.
